Boys in uniform school shirts.Welcome to the YMEP website!

YMEP stands for Young Men as Equal Partners. It is a regional programme on sexual and reproductive health among adolescents.

The programme is executed by the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education, RFSU, and takes place in four countries: Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia.

RFSU works in partnership with four fellow member associations of the International Planned Parenthood Federation, IPPF.

They are:

UMATI – The Tanzania Family Planning Association

FHOK – Family Health Options Kenya

RHU – Reproductive Health Uganda

PPAZ – Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia

The idea with the YMEP website is to give young people, teachers and service providers from different regions within YMEP a place to get together. It is also intended to show members of the public what YMEP is all about. Please feel free to share your success stories and discuss your experiences!

It is possible to change outdated gender roles. The short film "Talking about sex" introduces you to men and boys who have reconsidered sexist beliefs as a result of participating in the project Young Men as Equal Partners, YMEP. The idea of YMEP is to achieve better sexual health and improve women's standing through changing the attitudes of those who make the decisions men, that is.
