Our View on Collaboration

RFSU has been working on the international arena through IPPF (International Planned parenthood Federation) for many years but the work based on institutional collaboration is a fairly new experience, which started in a partnership with the family planning Organization of Tanzania, UMATI, in 1986.

RFSU regards institutional collaboration as a possibility for two, or more, organisations with a genuine and mutual interest in SRHR issues to cooperate in order to give an SRHR-project a dynamic and diverse approach. For RFSU this is a great opportunity to share knowledge and experiences and gain new knowledge on SRHR and adolescent sexuality. The RFSU input builds on the experience gained by working in the field of SRHR in Sweden for over 70 years.

RFSU has an open and tolerant view on sexuality and SRHR issues. We are guided by the conviction that knowledge about sexuality and SRHR prevents STI/HIV and unwanted pregnancies. Knowledge will give people tools to help them deal with their sexual lives and it also makes people gain self-esteem and respect for their partners and the opposite sex.

Institutional collaboration prerequisites sensitiveness of hearing, trust and respect from all partners involved. It is important for RFSU to be valued as an equal partner, in a process of exchanging experiences, ideas and knowledge on SRHR.
