 | RFSU (the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education) was founded in 1933. Today it is the leading organization in Sweden in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). RFSU has no party political or religious affiliation.
RFSU sees openness on sexuality as the point of entry of health promotion and prevention. Rights to sexual and health services and sexuality education are key tools in the struggle for a healthier and more equitable society.
Good sexuality education enables people to find joy in their sexuality, and gives each and every individual an opportunity to make decisions about his or her own body. Increased sexual knowledge will also prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Our work is based on three freedoms that are fundamental preconditions for a person’s ability to experience self-worth and self-esteem:
- The freedom to choose.
- The freedom to enjoy.
- The freedom to be oneself.
An important condition to these freedoms is that one person’s freedom may not infringe on another's. |
